There are great maisons that seem like factories, and small maisons that still have a family feel. Vollereaux belongs to the second category: a grower's Champagne, where those who cultivate the vine are the same family who signs the bottle.

Roots in Pierry

The house is based in Pierry, a village classified as Premier Cru near Épernay, on the southern slopes of Champagne. The Vollereaux family has cultivated vines here since 1805, but the turning point came in 1923, when Victor Vollereaux decided to vinify and promote his own Champagne: since then, the maison controls the entire process, from vine to bottle. Today, the sixth generation carries it forward, with roles divided within the family: Franck in the cellar, Hélène in hospitality, Jean-Marie in the vineyard.

The vines and the style

The estate covers about 40 hectares, distributed on the southern slopes of Épernay, with the three princely grape varieties of Champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wines rest on the lees well beyond the minimums required by the regulations, gaining depth and finesse. This results in Champagnes of an elegant, fresh, and balanced style — bubbles designed to accompany beautiful moments, without ostentation.

At Mr.Vino, you can discover Vollereaux by the glass: the most beautiful way to understand what "grower's Champagne" means.
